Night at the Melting Pot
Happy 18th birthday to my sister!
We spent this evening at a special restaurant Susannah had picked out for her birthday: the Melting Pot. It was certainly a dining experience I won't soon forget. For one thing, the restaurant workers don't take your orders to the kitchen, make them up, and then bring the food to your table. They bring out the ingredients to your meal and cook it in two burners right before your eyes. Their specialties included a variety of cheese fondues, some mixed with jalapenas, chives, mushrooms, and spinach. I opted for the teriyaki chicken dipped in barbeque sauce, but I also got to try some new side courses. The mushroom salad was all right, but I normally prefer my mushrooms to be cooked. The whole dinner lasted over three hours, something we didn't quite expect, but hey, that gives your family time to bond, and since it was Susannah's special day, I'm sure she was thrilled about that. Sure, having her boyfriend with us helped matters, but you know what I mean. Dessert was unbelievable. Three plates heaped high with strawberries, pineapple, marshmallows with peanut bits stuck to them, and a slice of cheesecake in the middle topped off with a little round cherry. As if that weren't enough to tickle your taste buds, we had the option of two different chocolate dips: dark and milk chocolate. If you haven't had chocolate-covered strawberries, you have not tasted a true dessert delicacy, my friend. Next to fruit pizza, it is the best item you will ever lay eyes on.
Oh yes. For those of you who were concerned or prayed about my dog last night, thank you so much for that. I am very pleased to report that Izzy's doing much better now. Whatever ailment she mysteriously picked up had apparantly run its course by morning and worked its way out of her system. She was her old frisky self again in no time, which was a welcome sight. Never was I happier to see her jump into my arms and start drenching my face with her tongue like a wet mop. And thanks to the long-overdue bath I gave her today, she smells nice too.
I was thankful to have today off from work to celebrate with my family. Once again, happy birthday, Susannah! And happy birthday, Lauren! Hope you're doing all right at Ridgecrest!
