The Needle's Eye

"This story like a children's tune. It's grown familiar as the moon. So I ride my camel high. And I'm aiming for the needle's eye." - Caedmon's Call

Calm Before the Storm

Today overall was much quieter, thank goodness. I spoke to my mother again this afternoon, and the pain from her operation seems to be subsiding already. She's more than ready to quit taking the pain medication she picked up from the hospital. From my experience with it, it lays your body out flat and can make you really nauseated. It gave her a migraine headache that she spent the day sleeping off. So she'll be relying on some good old fashioned Advil, Tylenol and Motrin IB to help her through whatever's left of the recovery process. Good news to hear.

As for me, this was my last full-fledged study day before the exams begin tomorrow. I've gone back and forth between Math and Health all throughout the day, with much of the emphasis on Math as that's the subject that requires the most attention. I met briefly with both of my professors and came away generally pleased. I feel like I have everything I need to do well on these finals, but there's always that lingering sense of doubt. Yeah, I know. I can hear God even now pricking my conscience with words of rebuke like, "Shame on you." Forgive me, Lord.

In a momentary return of my old, cute creativity, I resorted to combining all of the Powerpoint presentations from my Health class into one document. Then I played my church's Christmas music in conjunction with the slide show to relax my mind and process everything faster. I can't say if it helped, but it was something different to try.

I'm keeping my thoughts short tonight, so I'll sign off with the usual two staples of my journal writings...

Song of the Day: Darrell Evans - "Freedom Song"

Verse of the Day: "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." - Galatians 5:1
